Reviews

"Live music, whimsical staging, and lots of eye candy spark Shakespeare's comedy..."
-The Reader

"Their (Piccolo's) production of The Comedy of Errors should turn this twins-a-poppin' mistaken identity fest back into the sheer theatrical candy that Shakespeare intended it to be."

-Centerstage Chicago

"Christoper Marino's manically, zany, two hour recreation of Shakespeare's first comedy...is faithful to its folly."

-Chicago Stage Style

"Piccolo literally brings Shakespeare into your face...The action, which is never slow, reaches madcap proportions..."

-Chicago Theater Beat

"Piccolo Theatre took the comedy to the next level by incorporating clowning, physical comedy, and lots of creativity."

-Chicago Splash Magazine

"Piccolo Theatre's snappy rendition of The Comedy of Errors gets its 11th season off to a rousing start with inpsired direction by Christopher Marino."

-Lincolnwood Review

Summary

The Comedy of Errors is described as one of the earliest, shortest, and most farcical plays of William Shakespeare's career. The play begins with Antipholus of Syracuse on his quest to find his long lost twin brother. Antipholus and his servant Dromio of Syracuse after a storm, wash-up on the shore of the seaside town of Ephesus which turns out to be the home of both Antipholus and Dromio's identical twin brothers. Both sets of twins endure a montage of mistaken identities and a series of encounters with Ephesus' unusual residents which results in one wacky, magical comedy.
